It is easy to forget the small stuff right before a move, but if you are in the process of packing you’ve got to remember a short list of helpful hints to avoid any hassles once you reach your new destination. Take a hint from us and do the following:
Pack for the last and first nights: You should designate one box as your First and Last box – it should have all the stuff you need for the last night in your old home like a toothbrush, nightclothes, etc. and for the first night in your new house – shower supplies, a towel and a change of clothes are all helpful items.
Set up utilities: Beginning the last few weeks before you move make sure you set up your new utilities and turn off your old ones. This can include everything from clear internet to your water, but check with each company after the move, too.
Confirm everyone: Send out written or verbal confirmations to everyone involved in the move, from the movers to your real estate agent to ensure they’ll be where you want them to be come moving day.
