Everyone wants to know – who is cheaper – national moving companies or local moving companies?
Let’s pick apart the average move and figure it out. There are definitely positives and negatives to both companies, so let’s take a look at them.
With moving, it really varies based on how much stuff you have and how far you are moving. If you are going to be moving in state with 3-4 bedrooms worth of items, then most likely a local moving company would be cheaper. But if you are moving across the country, you might be surprised to find that, overall, the national companies might come out cheaper.
How does this work out? National companies have stations all across the country. If they are using a large semi and trailer, unless you have an exorbitant amount of things, most likely your things will on fill part of their truck. In order to make more money and a better journey, companies will sometimes pick up other’s belongings on the way to your new location.
By combining, they are actually saving money, and will most likely pass the savings on to the consumer, ending with national companies being cheaper than local movers.
